Stock ref: DS1037

Circa mid 60’s

Bespoke design, presents as a 6 drawer chest but  closer inspection reveals  2  ‘dummy’ drawers over 4 drawers, hand carved yorkshire rose  handles and a lidded storage area. The adzed top is  key lockable, unusually all the drawers are lockable via a plunger handle in the top section. Now cleaned and re-waxed, it has a wonderful patination and colour. The top has a few minor marks and scratches but nothing you wouldn’t expect for its age. The drawers are all clean and unmarked, inside & out.

Size: 132(w) x 49.5(d) x 71.5(h)cm. 52×19½ x28¼ ins

Single Drawer Size: 58.5(w) x 40.5(d) x 12.5(h)

Don Craven is a ‘Mouseman’ trained craftsman. He left to set up Aldborough Crafts with other craftsmen such as Bob Hunter (Wrenman). He ceased working in the mid 70’s. His work is often confused with Malcolm Pipes who has carved a foxes face/head since the early 80’s. Don’s work features a bushy tailed seated fox & is earlier than Malcolm’s.
