‘Gnomeman’ Thomas Whittaker Oak Occasional Table, 1970s

An excellent four legged solid oak occasional table from the workshop  of renowned ‘Yorkshire Critter’ craftsman Thomas Whittaker, the Gnomeman of Littlebeck, near Whitby. Made in his typical rustic  style it features a thick single planked subtly adzed top of irregular rectangular shape. Handcarved to the centre is a Yorkshire / Tudor rose. The top is supported on four rectangular splayed legs with chamfered edges, the legs visibly wedge jointed through the top. His signature gnome is carved in relief to one leg.

Excellent condition and colour with tight joints, part of a lovely collection of ‘Gnomeman’ pieces all privately sourced from the original owning family.

Size: 81(w) x 48(d) x 44(h)cm overall including the leg splay. The top is 75.5(w) x 35(d)cm.
