David Siddall, Vintage & Antique Furniture Dealer in Lancashire.

David Siddall Antiques was established in 2010, borne out of a personal passion for the beauty of natural wood, a historical interest in the designs and  ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement, an  appreciation of quality craftsmanship  and ‘truth to material’, and over 20 years of senior management experience in the furniture and home furnishings trade.

Originally set up from his home in Kirkby Fleetham, North Yorkshire, a family relocation in 2018 means David is now operating from his home in Lancaster, Lancashire and  his long established showroom in Lancashire’s leading antiques centre, The Preston Antique Centre.  Very much a family concern, David is assisted, as required, by his wife Paula and daughter Bethany.

‘Mousey Thompson’ and other Yorkshire Critters furniture and collectables.

Having lived and worked in the Northallerton, North Yorkshire area for over 20 years, it is perhaps not surprising that David specialises in the work of the many local Yorkshire furniture makers. Most notable amongst them is Robert Thompson, now widely regarded as one of the greatest UK furniture makers of the 20th century and affectionately known as ‘Mousey’ Thompson, The ‘Mouseman’ of Kilburn or Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson. From humble village origins, the fame of his trademark mouse, carved prominently onto most pieces of his work from the 1920’s onwards has spread internationally, thanks in no small part to successive generations of his family, who continue to own the business and produce furniture today with the same shared values and integrity he established a century ago. Many of Robert’s craftsmen went on to establish their own successful workshops, and others working in the same traditions also set up in the area. Their work is also highly regarded and increasingly sought after by knowledgeable collectors.

Leading antique Arts & Crafts dealer in Lancashire.

David has established himself as the North of England’s leading specialist dealer, not only in handcrafted vintage furniture from the Yorkshire craftsmen, but also the highly collectable late 19th & 20th century Arts and Crafts furniture makers and retailers. Work by the Cumbrian furniture makers Arthur Simpson of Kendal, Stanley Webb Davies of Windermere is particularly sought.  The emphasis is firmly on sourcing and selling high quality interesting or rare pieces with good provenance, and providing the highest levels of personal service to clients.

Aside from Mouseman furniture, antique furniture and home furnishings David is a keen classic car enthusiast and will usually be found with an oily rag and spanner in his hand, ‘tinkering’ with the 1976 Triumph Stag he’s owned since 2004. A member of the Stag Owners Club, he runs the car throughout the year and regularly attends car shows around the  North of England area.
