Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Rectangular Oak Serving Tray

Stock ref: DS2199

Circa 1940s/50s

A beautifully coloured and grained example of the  earlier made solid oak rectangular  Serving Tray from the Kilburn workshop of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson. Carved from a solid block of  the highest quality quarter sawn oak which is why the medullary ray graining patterns are displayed in all their glory on this piece, heightened by the light bouncing off the adzed surfaces.  Excellently carved mice form the handles with no losses.

The underside contains some filled holes where a previous owner looks to have attempted to fix some legs onto it in the past,  to use it as a small  side table ! Fortunately the holes are very slight and don't come through the upper surface

Size: 52(w, incl mice handles) x 29.5(d) x 2.3(h)cm
