Stock ref: DS2244

1952

An excellent  solid oak Standard Lamp from the Windermere, Cumbria workshop of Stanley Webb Davies, the renowned Cotswold School trained Arts and Crafts furniture maker. Stanley Webb Davies pieces are rare to the market and increasingly highly sought after, representing understated Arts and Crafts furniture at its very best, in the Cotswold School style of Gimson, Romney Green and the Barnsley's. Displaying the very finest cabinet making techniques and skills combined with meticulous attention to the smallest details.

Signed and dated to the base in the expected SWD manner, made by Richard 'Dickie' Cloudsdale. There is also a label to the base confirming the lamp was re-wired with modern period braided 3 core eathed wiring in 2018 by the David Turner Workshop, a leading London based vintage lighting resoration specialist.

A rare and highly useable piece of furniture which presents in full working order and wonderful original wax over linseed oiled condition, the usual finish SWD applied. The only very minor usage damage we can see is a few tiny nicks on one facet edge in the middle of the central stem, shown in the image gallery below.
