Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Rare Early Burr Oak 9 ½” Fruitbowl

Stock ref: DS2200

Circa late 1920s / early 30s

A very rare and beautifully coloured and patinated  early Burr Oak Fruitbowl by Robert Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn. Adzed and toolled all over with a very well defined early mouse carving to the  exterior side of the bowl, positioned close to some particularly fine burrs on the exterior side of the bowl.  The bowl has a very  solid thick rim and sides, presumed necessary to allow for the natural irregular grain cracking and holes associated with burr oak. Darker fumed from new it presents with a beautiful rich dark colour and aged patina. It is a wonderful collector's piece.
