Malcolm Pipes ‘Foxman’
Malcolm ‘Foxman’ Pipes is an ex Mouseman craftsman who trained and worked at Robert Thompson’s in the 1960s/70s. As craftsmen made one piece from start to finish, all were trained to be able to make every item in their portfolio. However, Malcolm is known to have developed a particular passion for making their sought-after Grandfather clocks.
After 20 years at Robert Thompson’s, he left to establish his own business in the early 1980s, quickly establishing himself as a talented craftsman in his own right, in the Thompson’s style. He reprised the fox carving, originally used by Don Craven in the 60s/70s, establishing himself as Malcolm ‘Foxman’ Pipes. Malcolm’s fox head is quite different to Don’s full fox, but we find the two are frequently confused.
Business flourished and continued despite a traumatic hand injury in 2009, until he retired and closed the business just a few years ago.
