Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson 6′ Oak Sideboard, 1975

An excellent Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson 6′ oak sideboard, originally bought in 1975 by the original owners. Features an adzed top with rear upstand and particularly good quarter sawn figuring and natural burrs. Below is a central bank of three graduated drawers with clean interiors, the top one baized lined with compartments for cutlery. Either side is a pinned and panelled cupboard with traditional wrought iron door fittings and internal shelving which presents in extremely clean condition for a 50 year old piece. An excellent signature mouse is carved in high relief to the left facing canted corner edge. The sides and rear are also panelled.

Excellent condition, clearly beautifully looked after by its original owners. Medium fumed colour with clear wax finish with extensive use on this piece of the sought after quarter sawn oak which is the specific cut of oak that produces the distinctive medullary ray graining patterns.
