Robert Thompson ‘Mouseman’ Oak Serving Tray, c.1960s

An excellent example of the solid oak Robert Thompson ‘Mouseman’ serving tray of typical kidney form. Subtly adzed upper surface with raised outer lip and excellent twin signature mouse handles to each side. Lovely medullary ray graining from the quater sawn oak used to made this example.

Wonderful condition and rich deeper fumed and aged colour, just one small indent in the raised outer lip has been noted and shown in the image gallery below. The rear is clean, although there is feint evidence of some knife cuts suggesting the rear has, for a short time in the past, been used as a bread board. However, they are very difficult to see on any images we’ve taken.
