A wonderful solid oak 3′ wide x 3’6″ tall bureau from the ex early ‘Mouseman’ craftsman Sid Pollard of Bagby, near Thirsk. Of typical rectangular form with a fall front supported on two pull out lopers, opening to reveal a writing desk and storage compartments with a very clean interior Adzing to all visible exterior surfaces in line with early Mouseman craftsmanship. A bank of four drawers below, all with traditional wrought iron drawer fittings.
Beautiful rich warm colour and patina, sympathetically cleaned and waxed in our workshop.
Fantastic value for a bureau. Previously supplied by ourselves, we’ve recently had the opportunity to purchase it back in part exchange against another item.
Sid Pollard (1914-1994) was one of Robert Thompson’s early apprentices. His solo work is almost always unmarked, preferring to let his craftsmanship speak for itself.
