‘Wrenman’ Bob Hunter Set of 3 Oak Napkin Rings, 1980s/90s

An exquisite set of 3 solid oak napkin Rings by the  ex Mouseman craftsman Bob ‘Wrenman’ Hunter.  Bob is now the only surviving craftsman to have started his apprenticeship at Robert Thompson’s whilst Robert himself was still alive. Bob, now  into his 90s, continues to work each day ably assisted by his family.

Wren Cabinetmakers was formed in the early 1980s, the wren signature arising from a wren Bob saw building its nest in his workshop, adjacent to his home in Thirlby. Prior to this he worked with Colin Almack ‘Beaverman’ and with Don Craven ‘Foxman’.

Excellent condition  and detailing, they’ve long been our personal favourite of all the napkin rings made by the  various craftsmen, and are the first piece that got us interested in the Yorkshire craftsmen’s work, shortly after we moved to Kirkby Fleetham, Northallerton in 1995.

We’ll consider selling the napkin rings singly.
