Stock ref: DS1200

Circa early/mid 1980s

An exceptional early Bob ‘Wrenman’ Hunter 7 1/2″ bowl in pristine condition, privately acquired from the deceased estate of a local Yorkshire Critters collector. Only ever used as a display piece it features a large and exceptionally detailed wren carved
perching on a branch, placed centrally in the bowl. Compeletely free of any damage or staining it has  stunning graining, colour and patina. Bought new in the early 80’s not long after Bob established Wren Cabinetmakers together with a free standing
gated letter rack which i also own, it still has its original label to the underside which bears the pre 1995 telephone number for Bob’s home and workshop in Thirlby which nestles at the foot of Sutton Bank, near Thirsk, lening some  provenance
to the age of the piece.

My family are fortunate to know Bob  and his family, he is a wealth of interesting information for me on all matters relating to Robert Thompson and all the Yorkshire makers.  He started working as an apprentice at Thompson’s in 1948 whilst
Robert Thompson was still alive,  and is still working every day in what remains a close family business, now ably assisted by his son’s David and Gary and daughter Jackie, all skilled cabinet makers and wood carvers in their own right.
