Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson 8’ Dining Table and 8 Chairs

Stock ref: DS1825

Circa  early 1970s

Just arrived is this excellent Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson 8′ Oak Refectory Dining Table with 8 Lattice Back Dining Chairs. It features a beautiful mirror matched two plank quarter sawn adzed top, rare to see as table tops are more commonly made with 3 or 4 non matched planks, not all of which maybe quarter sawn. It’s the prized quarter sawn planks which exhibit the visually stunning medullary ray graining patterns. Beautifully finished the top looks to have been professionally refurbished in the past, retaining the more stain resistant wax over polyurethane finish which has been the standard finish at Robert Thompson’s for several decades now, ideal if  there are children likely to be using the table regularly.

Complemented by a set of 8  matching lattice back dining chairs, which remain the most popular seat back choice to this day. The chair frames  are  solid and clean, testament to careful original ownership but, as with all our stock, have been symapthetically cleaned and re-waxed prior to sale. The chairs retain their original cow hide seats which we’ve carefully conditioned with appropriate cleaners and conditioners. The foams and leather remain very useable for a good number of years, despite the usual and expected light staining  which is always seen on the untreated aniline hides used historically on Mouseman chairs.  Our highly competitive pricing allows for eventual replacement with a modern treated hide  at a time and in a colour choice of the purchasers  own choosing.

Four chairs will sit comfortably down the 8′ length if preferred, allowing an additional 2 chairs on the ends and seating for up to 10.

This set would currently cost £ 12,010 to purchase new from Robert Thompson’s.

Size: Table 244(l) x 90(w) x 73.5(h)cm. Chairs 85(h)cm.
