An exceptional example of an early Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Craft / Sewing Workbox. Adzed all over including all panels and the rear with a lift-out inner compartment and a trademark mouse carved to the lower front right leg. Deeper fumed from new and following a symathetic clean and wax it presents in superb condition with solid joints and  a deep rich brown toned colour and patina. The top is dated 1948 and monogramed PK.

Excellent provenance, made and presented as a 21st birthday gift in 1948  to Patricia Kirk of Kilburn  from her parents, the Kirk family being long established farmers and butchers in Kilburn and neighbours of Robert Thompson.
