Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Smoking Chair

Stock ref: DS1872

Circa 1960s

A very good example of the earlier made and comfortable Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Smoking Chair with it’s characteristic slung aniline cow hide back and hide cushioned seat set into the adzed oak framework. A trademark mouse carved in high relief to the front leg. Modern made examples are taller and not adzed.

Being untreated these  aniline cow hide backs naturally acquire marks and stains over the years of usage, adding to the patina of the piece. Offered as purchased and presented in the image gallery below or in excellent refurbished condition with the frame cleaned and the leather conditioned. Solid framework with the expected minor spalsh marking to the frame, minor expected marking to the slung cow hide back and a  3 inch section of stiching on the underside of the cushion would benefit from re-stitching.

Originally one of a matched pair, see item DS1869 which has been cleaned and re-waxed, the hide conditioned.

Size: 61.5(w) x 81(d) x 102(h)cm
