Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Very Early 3’ Oak Desk / Console Table

Stock ref: DS2008

Circa late 1920s / early 30s

A superb example of a rare and very  early rectangular  3′ wide solid oak Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Console Table or Desk. Adzed all over including the rear, rear upstand with visible nail pinning to the circumference edges of the adzed  top, two drawers below and standing on four  beautifully carved  legs joined by a stretcher.  A fine example of an early mouse is carved in high relief to the front right leg. Initialed M.F.B. to the front centre, although we have so far been unable to idenify the name.

All the joints are solid, and the piece presents in a rich deep colour and patina, there’s just a natural fine hairline split in the wood on the top, shown in the image gallery below.

A wonderful piece for collectors who appreciate early mouseman furniture.

Size: 91.5(w) x 49(d) x 77.5(h)cm
