Stanley Webb Davies Oak Dressing Table and Mirror

An exceptional solid oak dressing table and full length adjustable bevelled mirror from the Windermere, Cumbria workshop of Stanley Webb Davies, the renowned Cotswold School Arts and Crafts furniture maker. Displaying the very finest cabinet making techniques and skills combined with meticulous attention to the smallest details, even on the rear and the drawer bases and backs. For example, the rear hidden screw adjuster for the mirror is hand turned from contrasting dark walnut.  Three graduated drawers to each side with a central mirror and drawer below, all the drawers with canted fronts and contrasting dark walnut handles. Typical curved edges, exposed cogged dovetailing and wedged tennons throughout. Stunning golden oak colour  and in excellent condition following a clean and wax in our workshop. Complete with protective glass tops (not shown in the images below). Signed and dated in the expected SWD manner, made by EJ Oldcorn and SA Johnston.

Privately acquired and with excellent provenance, part of a full bedroom suite bespoke made for his older brother William  R. Davies and his wife Agnes. Complete with letter from Agnes dated 1974.
