Circa early 1960s

This solid oak dished top stool is an excellent example of Wilf’s early solo work after he left Robert Thompson’s and set up is own business in 1957, Squirrel Furniture. Rectangular form with distinctive dished and nailed seat which is formed by steeping the wood in water to soften and allow it to be bent into the required shape. Standing on four shaped and carved legs joined by stretchers. Wilf’s squirrel signature to one leg.

Wilf is no longer with us but the business continues today in the capable hands of his son, Trevor.

Excellent condition with a rich fumed, waxed and aged colour.
